FOUR Scottish firms have been named and shamed by HMRC for failing to pay tax and penalties totalling more than £2 million.
HMRC releases the details of individuals and businesses who have been issued financial penalties for failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in their tax returns every three months.
The details are only released when a business or person has made one or more deliberate defaults on more than £25,000.
The most recent list was released on Monday and included four Scottish firms which have outstanding tax liabilities and penalties.
Altogether the four firms, which are not connected, owe £1,281,039 in unpaid tax and £1,011,411 in penalties.
In total, the four firms based in Scotland owe £2,292,450, according to the data published by HMRC.
The four Scottish firms named:
- Baran Melisa Ltd, of Perth (formerly trading as Marini’s). The takeaway and restaurant were listed to have an unpaid tax bill of £767,925, and outstanding penalties of £691,132.
- Kai Xin Street Limited (trading as Kai Xin), is located in Rutherglen, Glasgow. The fast food restaurant is listed to owe £299,701 in tax and £177,568.03 in penalties.
- Mabow Ltd (formerly trading as Marmaris). The takeaway in East Kilbride has an outstanding tax bill of £159,994 and penalties of £111,996.
- ST Spice Ltd (formerly trading as Station India), is located on Portobello High Street, in Edinburgh. The curry restaurant is listed as owing £53,417 in tax and £30,715 in penalties.
