HMP Kilmarnock prison staff take on TikTok dance challenge in bid to lift spirits at coronavirus hit jail

Staff at a Scots prison have been trying to lift their mood by taking part in a recent TikTok craze.

Kilmarnock Prison employees filmed an outside video dancing to The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights for the social media app.

The dance was to encourage staff to take some time out, put a smile on their face and forget about the pressures of working in the prison environment during coronavirus lockdown.

It comes after we reported how inmates at Kilmarnock HMP have tested positive for the virus with many more in isolation.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran have been treating prisoners with the virus.

A source from the Bowhouse facility said: “HMP Kilmarnock take on tiktok to lighten everyone’s mood in what’s going on with Covid-19!

“We all got together to bring spirits up between us, as you can imagine it’s a pretty hard time working in there behind closed walls where you try your best to keep your distance and not come into contact but sometimes it cannot be helped!

“Overall we had a much needed lift in staff moral!”
