TWO Doors Down is set to make a shock comeback after the series was shelved following the death of the sitcom’s co-creator.
The BBC One show – which follows long-suffering couple Eric and Beth Baird and their wacky neighbours on Latimer Crescent – was halted after the seventh series following the sudden death of Simon Carlyle in August 2023. He was 48.
At the time, Carlyle’s co-writer Gregor Sharp was reported to have told the cast he “could not carry on” without his writing partner.

An insider told that paper: “Gregor always felt that the show was Simon’s baby – they were his characters. That’s why he said he could not continue.
“But Gregor has finally relented and said yes. It’s great news because the show was just left hanging there for the viewers.”

The insider added: “Doing a one-off special, rather than writing a whole new series, takes the pressure off of Gregor.
“Hopefully if viewers are happy with the results that will encourage Gregor to continue.
“There really would be no better tribute to Simon than to continue with what he created.”
(Image: Image from Instagram) It comes after we reported this week that stars from the show, Grado – real name Graeme Stevely – and Jonathan Watson reunited as they attended Elaine C Smith's Keys to the City event at Glasgow City Chambers on March 7.
Jonathan, 67, is known for playing Colin in the popular show, while Grado, 36, is known for playing Alan, and Elaine, 66, is known for starring as Christine in the programme.
