A motorcyclist killed in a crash in northern NSW is believed to have been thrown from an overpass onto a major interstate highway as police probe a potential hit-and-run.
The unidentified rider's body was found at Chinderah on the Pacific Motorway connecting Sydney and Brisbane about 5.20am on Monday.
A crashed motorcycle was later found on the Tweed Valley Way overpass, with initial investigations suggesting the motorcyclist had been thrown from the bike onto the motorway.
Police investigations include the possibility the man was killed in a hit-and-run, and investigators have appealed for dashcam footage shortly before the body was found.
All southbound lanes of the motorway were closed for several hours on Monday morning, with a diversion in place only suitable for light vehicles, while heavy vehicles on an important trucking route were forced to park until lanes reopened shortly before 1pm.
