Historic Kirkin' of the Cornet takes place at Kirkcudbright Parish Church

The historic Kirkin’ of the Cornet took place at Kirkcudbright Parish Church on Sunday.

The ceremony was held ahead of the return of the town’s Riding of the Marches tomorrow night.

Deacon Convener of the Haill Six Incorporated Trades of Kirkcudbright, Ian D Swan, presented the sashes of office and the burgh flag.

This year’s Cornet is John Picken with Sam Barrick Cornet’s Lass.

The pursuivant is Diane Warren and the courier is Gemma Scott.

The lynors are TJ McCarney, Lily Stalker, Lochmann Spence and Mairi Howard.

The Riding of the Marches begins at 7pm on Friday evening with the Cornet’s Ball on Saturday.
