A block of Edinburgh city centre apartments are set to form a new hotel with a ground floor café also being added.
The site at 71 Hanover Street is a category A listed mid-terraced Georgian townhouse currently housing serviced apartments. But a change of use application has been submitted to the council which would see it run as an aparthotel with an added kitchen area.
In 2016, permission was granted to transform the former New Town office space into serviced apartments. Although exact plans have not been drawn up, an aparthotel offers guests a room with entire living facilities such as a kitchen and living area.

According to the applicant, Edinburgh Hotels Services Limited, the proposals include 'minor internal alterations' to accommodate a kitchen to the lower ground floor and café area to the ground floor.
The hotel will offer guests a room in an ideal city centre location just seconds from Princes Street and local amenities. The hotel consists of five storeys with rooms on four floors, however the proposals include several rooms making way.
The plans also confirm no changes will be made to the three floors, with two rooms on the lower ground floor and one on the ground floor ceasing use a sleeping accommodation.
Apartment two is to form a commercial kitchen and rooms one and three are to be utilised as storage space. En-suite facilities for room two will also be removed.
