A one bedroom cottage on Shetland has hit the market, currently accepting offers over £55,000 - far less than most one bedroom flats in Glasgow.
The former croft house sits west of the village of Walls, and includes a large stone wall to the front of the home and a former byre attached to the main house. Spanning across approximately 0.2 hectares, the property is accessed through Setter Road which comes off the A971.
Walls village remains a crofting community, with property agents Tait & Peterson claiming that to get a feel for the area a trip round the winding roads is needed. They also say there is no tourist route set out, so taking a map is helpful.

The village amenities include a post office, marina village hall, Happyhansel Primary School and a care home. Annual events in the area include the Skeld Sheepdog Trials and the Walls Agricultural Show, which see the community come together for concerts and dancing.

As for the property, the entrance porch leads onto a hallway - with the stairway heading up into the first loft area. The bedroom faces south, while the box room/bedroom faces north.
Down in the living room, a traditional fireplace and mantle create the centre of the room. In the dining room, a ladder takes you to the second loft area.
The kitchen offers views across the croft land, with a doorway leading into the back garden. The garden, enclosed by a stone dyke, can be utilised for a ‘variety of uses’.
Describing the home, Tait & Peterson said: “This former croft house is set in an elevated and isolated position facing south east towards the Voe of Footabrough and the Hill of Scarvister.
“An excellent renovation opportunity which is situated approximately 2 km west of the village of Walls.”
According to property site Rightmove, one-bedroom flats in Glasgow usually start at well over £50,000. While the cottage is an excellent price, this is due to the renovations needed before moving in.
