Hirst, Warhol and a little artistic licence

After reading “At least 1,000 Damien Hirst artworks were painted years later than claimed” (22 May) I realised that Andy Warhol was right when he said: “Art is what you can get away with.”

• I once started a text to a retired Methodist minister friend, “Dear Stan” which was autocorrected to “Dear Satan.” Fortunately. I spotted it before clicking send (People with commonly autocorrected names call for tech firms to fix problem, 22 May).

• In the 1960s, we used olive oil and raspberry vinegar – both from the chemist – to sunbathe: the former to crisp us and the latter to stain the skin brown (Letters, 23 May).

• It is very sad that Paula Vennells was in tears. She ought to be in prison (Rev Vennells wept but couldn’t remember much about sending innocent subpostmasters to jail. All so long ago, 22 May).
