Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister has withdrawn his name from consideration as President-elect Trump's nominee to lead the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). In a post on social media, Chronister expressed his gratitude for being nominated and called it the 'honor of a lifetime.'
However, after reflecting on the significant responsibility that comes with the position, Chronister decided to withdraw from consideration. He stated that there is still important work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and that he is committed to fulfilling various initiatives in his current role as Sheriff.
Chronister was appointed by former Florida Governor Rick Scott to lead the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 2017 and has since been re-elected twice. Despite stepping back from the opportunity to lead the DEA, Chronister expressed his appreciation for the nomination and the support he received from the American people.
