SCOTS have been applauding an amusing sticker which has been slapped on the ‘Welcome to Scotland’ sign on the Border.
A sticker saying ‘Better Scotland, Better Water’ has been placed on the large sign by the A1.
It comes as Scotland prepare to host England at Hampden Park on Tuesday night in a friendly marking the 150th anniversary of the oldest international fixture.
Captains Andy Robertson and Harry Kane were pictured in heritage shirts at the West of Scotland Cricket Club on Monday – the site of the first ever international match.
Scots have been commenting on the sticker on social media after it was shared by The Big Scottish Football Podcast, with one suggesting there are “better people” north of the Border as well.

However, David Middleton suggested football fans were getting a bit over confident ahead of the big game.
He said: “I have a strong feeling that our football fans are getting a bit too big for their boots and could well be in for a proper lesson when they play England (even in a “friendly”).”
Scotland and England first met on St Andrew’s Day in 1872, where it is estimated between 2500 and 4000 spectators turned out to watch the game at the West of Scotland Cricket Club ground, paying one shilling each.
The match this evening will provide a stern test for Steve Clarke’s men who have not beaten England this century but will be full of confidence after going unbeaten in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign so far.
