Therese Coffey MP, the new Health Secretary and Deputy PM, was interrupted during an interview by her alarm. The Dr Dre tune rang out as she hurriedly reached for her phone during the LBC radio appearance.
Coffey was answering questions about her personal health from presenter Nick Ferrari when she was interrupted. The interview was paused while she reached for her phone. She told the host: "You're getting a bit of Dr Dre."
Ferrari joked: "Dr Coffey with Dr Dre and you're the Health Secretary, it just gets better and better doesn't it?". Coffey apologised and said it was just "an 8am alarm" that played the Dr Dre hit 'Still Dre' featuring Snoop Dog.
The musician is now trending on twitter as Brits react to the new Health Secretary's bizarre alarm. One said: "I hope she knows Dr Dre isn’t a medical doctor."
Another joked that Dr Dre would not be able to recover from the association with Coffey, tweeting: "My sincere commiserations to Dr Dre on the death of his cred."
Others suspected she might have intentionally set the alarm to interrupt the interview. One twitter user claimed: "If you asked Teresa(sic) Coffey to give an impromptu couple of lines of Dr Dre I guarantee you she'd not have a clue."
Another said: "Blatantly for effect, she wanted it to go off on air. So we can like her because she listens to Dr Dre."
