A man who went missing in a remote provincial park in British Columbia during a camping trip has been found alive after five weeks.

20-year-old Sam Benastick went on a ten-day camping and fishing trip in northeast British Columbia backcountry in October. His family reported him missing after he did not return home in Oct. 17, the date his trip was supposed to end.

On Tuesday morning, Benastick was located on a service road after having braved the wild for 50 days and having been officially missing for over five weeks, reported CBC.

"You know, the guy says he's in rough shape. But man, for 50 days out in that cold, he's going to live," said Mike Reid, the general manager of the Buffalo Inn in Pink Mountain, B.C., where Benastick's parents stayed for over 20 days as they searched for their son.

Benastick was found supporting himself with two walking sticks, with his legs donning scraps of his sleeping bag he had cut up and tied on for warmth.

"It's kind of unbelievable," said Al Benastick, Sam Benastick's uncle, in an interview with CBC. "Imagine being out there, being that cold, for that long."

Temperatures dropped to below - 20 C and (- 4 F) and snow fell in the provincial park while Benastick was missing.

His mother shared an image of him recovering in the hospital after being found to social media, in which Benastick can be seen presenting the camera with a thumbs up.

"Complained that he hasn't caught one fish," she captioned the photo. "He will make recovery just needs some time."
