A HIGHLY-RATED hotel has taken the “difficult decision” to close its doors for good months after it had a major refurbishment.
The Roebuck Inn, in Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire, had been transformed in early 2024 after it had been left dormant since 2022.
The owners said that it was with a “heavy heart” they had to cease trading immediately citing the lack of “sufficient business activity” for their closure.
According to the Press and Journal, the owners posted a statement on The Roebuck Inn’s now-deleted Facebook page where they thanked all those who had supported them.
They added it had been a “pleasure” to serve the local community. The hotel had a bar and lounge along with a restaurant and 12 revamped bedrooms.
It also boasted favourable reviews online from its guests.
However, the Roebuck Inn’s website has now been taken down following its sudden closure.
According to the P&J the now deleted social media statement said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Roebuck Inn, effective immediately.
“After much reflection and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors due to a lack of sufficient business activity.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to all those who supported us along the way. “It has been a pleasure serving this community.
“We truly are thankful for the trust and loyalty you have shown us.
“We wish you all the best and will cherish the memories of the time we’ve spent together.”
