A shorthanded Boston Celtics ball club pulled off an impressive and hard-fought win on the road at Wells Fargo Center against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. The team earned a 117-107 victory without Boston All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown and star Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis, the former out sick and the latter with a knee contusion.
Despite missing those key players in a high-leverage regular season contest with both clubs fighting for the Eastern Conference’s top spot in the game, the Celtics showed off their defensive versatility and made key plays to secure the victory even without two starters available.
Veteran Boston big man Al Horford showed he can still play exceptional defense against Sixers star center Joel Embiid, a dominant force in the league, holding him to his lowest point total of the season so far.
