Highland Wildlife Park visitors now able to view adorable baby polar bear

Guests at a popular wildlife park in the Highlands are in for a treat this spring after staff announced they'll now be able to view their latest arrival.

The adorable polar bear cub – who was recently named Brodie by one lucky fan – will now be visible exploring his new surroundings with his mum after spending winter together in their birthing den.

Posting on Facebook, staff at the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie, said: "Victoria and her adorable cub now have access to their on-show enclosure and lucky visitors can spot them from the viewing platform."

The little cub, who was born in December to parents Victoria and Arktos has been named Brodie - a Scottish word which means 'second son' – after he became the second male the pair have produced.

It follows the birth of their first cub, and the first polar bear born in the UK in 25 years, Hamish, who has now moved down south to another wildlife park.

Staff at the park are advising visitors the cub may only be visible for small periods of time, to begin with.

Joking that after a lap of his enclosure the exhausted little cub enjoys a good snooze in the den with mum.

Carnivore team leader Vickie Larkin said that they are asking fans to book their tickets in advance (which you can do here ).

She said: "He is doing very well and is growing more confident every day.

"It is important to be aware Brodie may only be visible for short spurts to begin with as he starts to explore his enclosure and grow stronger on his feet."

"Seeing cubs like this up close is a great way to connect with nature and raise awareness of the plight the species faces in the wild."

The prize draw to not only name Brodie but visit him and mum Victoria at the park saw over £70,000 raised, which the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland which runs the wildlife park will use to build Scotland's Wildlife Discovery Centre at the Highland site.

One fan wrote: "He's absolutely adorable. Well done mama, Victoria done good job again with another beautiful baby boy Brodie."

While another added: "So sweet I’m looking forward to seeing him in June."
