A holiday park operator has suggested a series of scenic walks where Britons are able to achieve the recommended 10,000 steps a day to maintain health and fitness.
The study by Parkdean Resorts has ranked of all the best walking locations around the country, and listed which are guaranteed to register 10,000 steps.
Using review data from TripAdvisor and AllTrails, Parkdean Resorts ranked the treks based on reviews, level of walking difficulty, if they are child or pet friendly, wheelchair and pushchair accessibility.

Prettiest Walks
For those who love an Instagram opportunity, Parkdean ranked over 4.2 million TripAdvisor reviews to find the prettiest walking trail to reach 10,000 steps.
- Arthur’s Seat situated in Edinburgh: This route will take you an average of two hours to complete covering 10kms and 13,000 steps.
- Dovedale, located in the Peak District: This hike normally takes around two hours covering 10kms and 13,000 steps.
- Fairy Glen found in Wigan: This route is another two-hour trek along 10kms and 13,000 steps.
Flat Walks
Perfect for those looking to ease themselves into fitness, the flattest walks in the UK were ranked by ease and accessibility for pushchairs and wheelchairs on AllTrails.
- Cosper Green Circular located in Lancashire: At this child-friendly location, you’ll cover a distance of 9.2 kms, taking just under three hours to complete, reaching 12,000 steps.
- Bolton Abbey and The Strid Circular, located in North Yorkshire: Covering 9.5 kms over three hours with an average 12,500 steps.
- Bridgewater Way: Boothstown to Abram in Manchester: Covering 8.5kms, walkers can hit 11,000 steps on this route, taking up to three hours to complete.
More difficult walks
For those who seek to elevate their heart rate and really get the blood pumping. These walks hikes determined based on the percentage incline of the terrain, and those rated as ‘difficult’ by walkers on AllTrails.
- Carrauntoohil Mountain and Devil’s Ladder located in Ireland: This route will take an average of five hours to complete at an eight per cent incline with around 15,200 steps.
- Birkhouse Moor, Striding Edge, Helvellyn and Catstycam Circular, located near Glenridding, Cumbria: Containing an average 17,000 staking around six hours to complete covering 13kms on a 6.5 per cent incline.
- Pike of Blisco Circular, Cumbria: This is a 13 kms loop trail that will take an average of six at an incline of 7.6 per cent covering 17,000 steps.
Family Walks
Best family walks around the UK were identified based on AllTrails ratings that suggested these trails were easy to complete, child-friendly, pet-friendly and had both wheelchair and pushchair access.
- Brockenhurst Village Walk, Hampshire: This 8.4 kms loop trail will take up to three hours to complete, with 11,000 steps.
- Capital Ring Walk Section 12: Highgate to Stoke Newington, in London: Covering 8.7kms, this walk will exceed 11,000 steps across three hours.
- The Tudor Cycle Trail: Tonbridge to Penshurst: Spanning 9.7 kms, this stroll achieves an average of 12,700 steps in just under three hours.
