Bosses at Bristol Waste have thanked people across Bristol for their patience and said 'higher than average sickness levels' are to blame for missing hundreds of streets this week.
Recycling collections were missed in 144 streets across St Pauls, Horfield, Bishopston, Lockleaze, Easton, Redfield, Montpelier, Staple Hill and The Dings on Monday, with another 187 streets missed on Tuesday across Staple Hill, Stockwood, Brislington, Hengrove, Knowle, Knowle West, Totterdown and Broomhill on Tuesday.
Bristol Waste said that, like many firms across the country in the waste industry, they are experiencing staff shortages generally - which have been exacerbated now by sickness levels among existing staff increasing.

A spokesperson for Bristol Waste apologised to people waiting for the bins and recycling to be collected, and assured them it almost certainly would be picked up the next day if it was missed on the scheduled day.
And she also flagged up the job vacancies at Bristol Waste people can apply for.
“Like others in the waste industry, we’re currently experiencing staff shortages," she said. "Unfortunately this has been compounded by higher than average sickness levels and means we haven’t been able to get to every home on their scheduled collection date. We are keeping Bristol City Council up to date on the situation, and our crews are working really hard to catch back up.
"We’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we do so. If your road has not been collected, please leave your bins and boxes out and we will return as soon as possible. Any road we haven’t been able to get to is listed here. If you believe your road was missed but not listed, please report it online by 5pm on the day after your scheduled collection here.
