The oil companies collecting higher rate for the diesel purchased by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was a discriminatory practice and against public interest, the corporation stated before the Kerala High Court.
It was on a petition challenging the higher fuel price slapped by the oil companies that the cooperation raised the contention.
At the same time, the counsel for the oil companies argued that the Centre had removed the price regulation mechanism way back in 2014. The Supreme Court had earlier directed that the courts shall desist from intervening in policy matters, the counsel submitted.
The corporation owes the oil companies, including the Indian Oil Corporation, an amount of ₹123 crore, the council pointed out. The court will consider the case later.
