A MAN accused of assaulting, harassing and threatening a woman during a series of domestic violence incidents at Cessnock in May has been refused bail.

Jake David Lambert, 30, was arrested on Wednesday after specialist domestic violence officers swooped after a month-long investigation.

Mr Lambert was later charged with seven offences, including common assault, intimidation, driving with intent to menace, armed with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and damaging property.

He did apply for bail or come over from the courthouse cells when his matter was mentioned briefly in Cessnock Local Court on Thursday.

Mr Lambert did not enter any pleas and the matter was adjourned until July 10.

Officers from the Hunter High Risk Domestic Violence Offender Team, backed by Hunter Valley police, say they have been trying to find Mr Lambert since June 5 after a woman made a "serious domestic violence" report.

After extensive inquiries, police arrested the 30-year-old in Subiaco Avenue at Cessnock about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

Police allege Mr Lambert assaulted and threatened a woman in separate incidents in May this year.
