Disney+ has delivered a new show to help get us through the cold (and often dull) winter nights – police drama High Potential.
The series, written by The Good Place executive producer Drew Goddard, follows a single mother “whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective,” the streaming service has teased.
The drama is based on a popular French series, titled Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, and its cast includes stars you’ll recognise from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Scrubs and The Devil Wears Prada.
Here’s a who’s who of the famous faces in the show – including where you’ve seen them before.
Kaitlin Olson
Kaitlin Olson stars as Morgan, a cleaner whose life takes an unexpected turn when she’s offered a position helping the LAPD solve crimes.
Olson is best known for playing Deandra Reynolds in the long-running comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She also has a recurring role as DJ Vance in hit comedy Hacks – which has earned her two Emmy nominations.
The actress has also voiced numerous characters, popping up in Family Guy, Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory, and an episode of The Simpsons.
Daniel Sunjata
Daniel Sunjata plays Karadec, a detective who puts his scepticism aside to team up with Morgan.
Early in his career, he made a brief appearance in Sex and the City – playing a sailor who woos Carrie Bradshaw in Fleet Week – as well as Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy, and 30 Rock.
On the silver screen, he’s played characters including budding fashion designer James Holt in The Devil Wears Prada and Captain Jones in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Judy Reyes
Judy Reyes plays Selena, an LAPD boss who offers Morgan the consultancy position.
Reyes is best known for playing nurse Carla Espinosa in eight seasons of medical comedy Scrubs. The show ended one season after Reyes left. Since then, she’s landed plenty of big- and small-screens roles, popping up in Jane the Virgin, Black-Ish, and Succession.
Javicia Leslie
Batwoman star Javicia Leslie plays Karadec’s partner, Daphne. Leslie first appeared as the DC Comics superhero in The CW drama named after the character, before reprising the role in follow-up show The Flash.
RuPaul’s Drag Race devotees may also recognise Leslie thanks to the fact she popped up in the 2023 All Stars series as a guest judge.
Deniz Akdeniz
Deniz Akdeniz plays Lez ‘Oz’ Ozdil, another LAPD investigator.
His biggest role to date was playing Max Park in The Flight Attendant, opposite Girls star Zosia Mamet, as Max’s girlfriend Annie.
Like Reyes, he’s also appeared in Jane The Virgin.
Amira J
Teenager Amira J plays Morgan’s rebellious 15-year-old daughter – but this is far from her first time in a huge TV show.
The budding star, who used to go by her full name, Amira Johnson, previously appeared in the hit US version of Shameless.
High Potential is available to stream on Disney+ now.
