DENVER — The High Park fire that burned more than 1,500 acres was fully contained overnight, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office said.
The blaze was started on May 12 about 5.5 miles west of Cripple Creek. Officials said that about 360 people were working on containing the fire.
After days of red flag warnings creating difficulties for firefighting efforts, the late-season snowstorm and cold weather this past weekend offered a break to make progress on the containment effort.
The High Park fire originally caused evacuations for nearby communities, but all evacuations and road closures have been lifted.
