High-flying Glory even winning over rival ALW coaches

Adelaide United coach Adrian Stenta says even he is enjoying watching Perth play this season, but he's keen to see the downfall of the A-League Women ladder leaders.

The Glory have shot into early title contention after starting their season with three straight wins.

Their hot run has put them two points clear of second-placed Melbourne City and five points clear of fifth spot.

In contrast, Adelaide are languishing in 11th place with just a draw to show from their opening three games.

Perth narrowly missed the finals in each of the past two seasons, but have now set the platform for a deep run this time around.

They'll be aiming to continue their unbeaten streak when they host the Reds at Macedonia Park on Saturday night.

Stenta is among the admirers of Glory's hot form - but only when his coaching hat isn't on.

"It's a team I've enjoyed watching play - just as a neutral, not as a coach," Stenta said.

"They've had a fantastic start to the year, they're sitting top of the table.

"They'll be coming into the game full of confidence.

"We expect a really stern test for them. But we enjoy going over to Perth and playing over there.

"We're going to give it our best effort to try to come away with the victory."

Perth broke through for their first win in Canberra last weekend when they posted a 3-2 victory.

A total of 13 previous visits over the course of 15 years had failed to produce a win in the nation's capital, but they held their nerve to seal the three points.

Adelaide have also proven to be a bogey team for Perth, with the Glory posting just one win over the past 10 match-ups.

Glory coach Alex Epakis is confident his team has the mettle to get the job done.

"I think the reality is we go there and always compete well, but they've just had a little bit more edge in some really specific moments across key games," he said.

"But I think now we've got the character and we've got the experience and the quality to win those really important moments in the battle, and I think we'll see that on the weekend."

Third-placed Wellington, who have won back-to-back matches for the first time in their history, will host sixth-placed Western United on Sunday.

In other Sunday match-ups, Central Coast take on fourth-placed Brisbane, while Melbourne Victory face Newcastle.

The final match of the round will pit Melbourne City against last-placed Western Sydney.

Defending champions Sydney FC won't be in action due to the Sky Blues' participation in the AFC Club Championship in Uzbekistan, meaning Canberra United also won't play this weekend.
