Just a stone’s throw away from the Lake District is a working farm with a hidden gem on its grounds. Overlooking the gorgeous Cumbrian countryside are three luxury glamping pods, providing guests with the ultimate off-grid escape.
Located a short drive-away from Cockermouth, Cragg Farm Camping Pods are hidden away from the tourist hotspots and crowds. Think views of sheep grazing in green fields rather than cars crammed into carparks.
The site has been rated the best campsite in the North West on Pitchup.com, with an overall rating of 10/10 from more than 40 reviews. When you take a look at what the pods have got to offer it’s easy to see why.

Each of the wooden pods comes with a fully-fitted kitchen complete with a hob, oven, fridge-freezer and a microwave. It’s ideal for making a hearty cooked breakfast before setting out on a hike.
The home comforts don’t stop there. There’s a generously-sized shower room with a toilet and a washbasin - so no walking through a field in the middle of the night looking for the communal toilets.
In the living space there’s a corner sofa (which turns into a double bed), a TV, dining table and chairs. Two of the pods have a double bed with a single bunk above it, while the third pod is slightly bigger and does not have the bunk bed.
There’s no danger of being chilly at night either. The wooden pods are fully-insulated with double glazing and underfloor heating, which adds to the luxury.
Outside there is a decked veranda with a picnic table so you can enjoy some alfresco dining while admiring the views. As they are located on a quiet spot on the farm, it creates the feeling of being off the beaten track without having to travel too far.
Cragg Farm Camping Pods are just a short drive away from Cockermouth. Bassenthwaite Lake, Loweswater and Crummock Water are all nearby too.
Prices start at £100 per night, based on two adults, with a minimum two-night stay. For more information visit Pitchup.com.
