Edinburgh is inundated with great boozers serving fantastic pints which means that residents and visitors are often spoiled for choice.
But one local free house has stood out amongst the pack after winning the best pint award for the second time in three years.
Winstons which is situated at 20 Kirk Loan Corstorphine has brought home their second ‘Beer Quality Award’ corkscrew from the Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN) awards.

The pub had won the award in 2019 and finished in the top three in 2021 but got back to winning ways in 2022 with their fantastic pint of Tennent’s.
Their Vitamin T was judged alongside a variety of pints from across Scotland with three judges putting the amber nectar through its paces whilst comedian Jason Manford handed out the award to manager Iain Hewitt and staff member Tom Denham.
A number of deciding factors go into the decision such as beer quality, the cleanliness of a pub's cellar, the quality of lines, the correct glassware, head retention and standard of service amongst many other markers.
“It is a massive achievement for the team and we are chuffed to bits to have been awarded Scotland’s Best Pint’”, Iain Hewitt said.
The 40-year-old continued: “It is the second time that we have won the award after being crowned champions back in 2019 before the pandemic.
“We unfortunately lost out in 2021 but were still able to secure a top three finish. It is fantastic and is a good achievement to be recognised for. We put a lot of hard work in.
“A lot of effort is put in to make sure customers are as happy as they can be and to get the technical recognition is very fulfilling and we are all really happy about it.”
There are 20 different categories that are sponsored by a variety of backers at the STLN awards for businesses to compete for.
The Corstorphine boozer also scored five out of five stars for both the Beer and Cask mark quality competitions - showing that the pub is consistently at the top of its game.
Winstons is the only free house in Corstorphine but is a well loved establishment by their locals who are notoriously loyal.
But the owners and Iain have not only tasted success at the West Edinburgh business, as their other bars, Platform 3 in Linlithgow and The Volunteer Arms in Uphall, have both won titles with CAMRA and the Good Food Awards.
Those wishing to taste Scotland’s best pint are invited to the pub where they will be able to grab a glass of T for £4.50.
