Hibs TV left smarting over Hearts euphoria as they make 'really embarrassing' on air claim

Hibs TV commentator Dave Armstrong branded Hearts' Scottish Cup semi-final performance "embarrassing" as the whistle blew at Hampden Park.

And as Robbie Neilson and his players lapped it up from their fans in the Mount Florida end the man on the mic was adamant they had "nothing to celebrate".

The Jambos now lie in wait for the winner of Sunday's other derby semi-final between Celtic and Rangers.

And they have also secured European group stage football for next season, either in the Europa League or the Europa Conference League after the 2-1 victory.

Strikes from Ellis Simms and Stephen Kingsley had the men in maroon two up only for Chris Cadden to hit back.

Despite Joe Newell's second-half red card Hibs continued to push with 10 men and though they came up short fans showed their appreciation at full-time including club media man Armstrong.

He summarised: "Well, it's all over here at Hampden.

"And with all due respect, there's nothing that should be celebrated because their performance in the second half was nothing short of really embarrassing.

"But we keep our heads held high, and every fan in that stand can be proud of this performance from this Hibs side.

"The final score here at Hampden: Hearts 2 Hibs 1."
