Hibs transfer confirmed as Lee Johnson hails capture of Huddersfield keeper with 'a lot of ability'

Hibs have signed Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Ryan Schofield on a season-long loan deal after an injury to deputy Kevin Dabrowski.

The stopper suffered shoulder ligament damage in training prior to this weekend's Premiership match at St Mirren and will miss at least the next couple of months, with a race to be fit before November's World Cup break now on. Schofield has been brought in to challenge number one David Marshall for the campaign with promising keeper Murray Johnson out on loan at Airdrie.

A product of the Huddersfield academy, he has previously spent time in Scotland on loan at Livingston. He's made 33 appearances since that stint in West Lothian ended in 2020 and also has experience with Notts County. Manager Lee Johnson is happy to have added him to his Hibs group ahead of next week's transfer deadline. His character and minutes to date have been earmarked as positives.

He said: “After Kevin’s injury, it was important that we brought in another good young ‘keeper to add extra competition in the goalkeeping area.

“Ryan is someone that has experience of the Scottish league, has performed well in the English Championship, and has a lot of ability.

"Not only that, but he’s also another good character to add to the dressing room. We welcome him to Hibernian FC and look forward to working with him."
