Hibs striker Christian Doidge admits he is 'so confused' over talk of transfer

Christian Doidge has opened up on his transfer future as he admits 'I'm so confused'.

The Hibs striker has been the the subject of speculation during this window but says he hasn't heard anything and has no interest in leaving unless Lee Johnson and the powers above at Easter Road tell him otherwise.

Doidge missed a fair bit of last season through injury and is continuing to work himself back to his best. He's netted three goals in nine appearances so far this season, with all three strikes coming in the Premier Sports Cup group stage. He's yet to open his account in the Premiership but he is determined to keep his head down and work hard in a bid to kick on once again after playing 87 minutes against St Mirren. On talk over his future, he said: “Well, to be honest, I haven’t heard anything. Everyone keeps saying that and I’m so confused, but I’m just keeping my head down.

READ MORE: Lee Johnson outlines quiet Hibs transfer plans after failing 'miserably' in St Mirren defeat

“I love playing for this club and I’m going to keep turning up every day until I’m told otherwise.”

Keanu Baccus scored the only goal of the game as St Mirren dumped the capital club in Paisley to go four points ahead of the Hibees after making it three league wins on the bounce. But despite Hibs' stuttering start, Doidge, like his boss Johnson, is convinced things will turn around.

He added: “Definitely. The shape the manager put us in, we looked really lively, especially down the right side with Chris Cadden and Martin Boyle; they put in some great crosses and they just didn’t land in the box for anyone.

“As a frontman it’s extremely disappointing, you’re trying to get on the end of crosses - I had one in the first half and got my toe on one in the second but that was it.

“So, that’s really frustrating. We’ve just got to get on the training pitch and keep doing it, keep putting in hard sessions and I know we’ll turn it.”
