Hibs shut Easter Road doors for FC Edinburgh friendly as not enough tickets sold

Hibs have been forced to shut the doors on Easter Road for a friendly with FC Edinburgh as not enough tickets have been sold.

Alan Maybury's FC Edinburgh make the short trip to face their city counterparts on December 8, and it was expected to be open to supporters. However Hibs confirmed today that no fans will now be allowed in due to the poor ticket sales.

It's a bit of a red face for club officials and hardly ideal for Lee Johnson as he tries to get his side in shape for the resumption of the Premiership a week later when they go to Ibrox to face Rangers for what will be Michael Beale's first game in charge since taking over from Giovanni van Brocnkhorst.

A club statement read: "We can confirm that our friendly against FC Edinburgh will now be played behind-closed-doors at Easter Road.

"The decision was made after a limited number of supporters purchased tickets for the match.

"However, to ensure all supporters can watch the game, it will be streamed on the Club’s official YouTube channel! Click here to subscribe.

"The game will still take place on Thursday 8 December, 2022 and will kick-off at 7pm.

"If you have purchased a ticket for this game, it will automatically be cancelled and refunded via the ticket office who will be in touch with all supporters who have booked."
