Hibs are one of nine teams to be involved in the rebooted SPFL Reserve League this season.
Celtic, Hearts and Rangers are not involved as they take part in this campaign's Lowland League, the fifth tier of Scottish football. Hibs join Ayr United, Dundee, Dundee United, Hamilton, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Motherwell, Queen of the South and Queen’s Park in the division and there will also be a Reserve Cup.
Action gets underway on September 6 and there will be nine league fixtures in total spanning all the way to April next year. The league was paused in season 2019/20 due to the pandemic and kicks off again for the first time in over two years at the start of Autumn. Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our member clubs the opportunity to be able to play SPFL cinch Reserve League football again, after the league was originally paused due to the pandemic.
