A David Marshall howler left Hibs staring at defeat as they crashed to a 6-1 hammering against Celtic in Glasgow.
Lee Johnson’s men rocked up to Celtic Park with plenty of reasons to be confident, and they showed early promise with runs from Harry McKirdy causing problems. All the hard work unravelled on 10 minutes when Hibs were caught sleeping at the back for James Forrest to net the opener. The defensive lapses continued when Giorgos Giakoumakis was allowed to ghost in for Celtic’s second. The Hibees went into the break three goals down when Marshall tried to catch a Forrest strike but allowed it slip into his own goal.
Lee Johnson's side conceded as many in the second half despite the manager making FOUR changes at half time. Striker McKirdy was hooked and his replacement Élie Youan fired Hibs a consolation but any chance of a recovery was quickly dispelled when Forrest scored his third and another goal from Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda piled on the misery.

David Marshall - 3
The former Scotland keeper had a Celtic Park nightmare he’ll want to forget. His howler on 24 minutes all but sealed the points for the home side. His attempt to catch the ball from Forrest’s half volley ended with the experienced keeper scrambling to stop the ball crossing the line. Ultimately he failed and gave his side an uphill battle.
Chris Cadden - 5
Was given a tough task to mark on-form Montenegro winger Sead Haskabonovic as he was given a torrid afternoon. Struggled to get close to the Celtic attacker and the overlapping Alexandro Bernabei. Never stopped the crucial crosses which led to the opening goals. Subbed at half time for Rocky.
Ryan Porteous - 6
Stronger of the two centre backs. Defended the box well, crucial clearance as Giakoumakis threatened to make it four. A composed and disciplined performance, but ultimately not enough to stop a free-scoring Celtic.
Paul Hanlon - 5
Caught sleeping for Giakoumakis strike as the game slipped away from his side. Struggled with the big Greek striker throughout the contest.
Lewis Stevenson - 4
Allowed Forrest to slip into to the back post for the opening goal. Struggled to deal with the Celtic winger who cut inside causing havoc for the Hibs defence all afternoon. Subbed at half time for Cabraja.
Nohan Keeneh - 4
Struggled to cope with Hatate, O'Riley and Mooy as they pulled the strings in the midfield. Subbed for Mitchell with ten minutes to go.
Joe Newell - 5
Like Keeneh was out thought and outbattled by the Celtic midfield trio. Made some important blocks.
Josh Campbell - 5
Made a crucial tackle to stop Haskbanovic as Celtic threatened. Spent most of the match on the back foot, struggled to play Boyle in.
Martin Boyle - 4
Hardly got a sniff in the game. Anonymous for much of the contest. One decent chance in the second half just wide of the post.
Harry McKirdy - 3
Bright start showed promise with early runs in behind as Hibs tried to exploit Celtic's high line. Struggled to create any real threats and caught offside. Subbed at half time for Magennis.
Mykola Kuharevich's - 4
An anonymous first half from the towering Ukrainian striker who struggled to make any impact in the game. One of the four hooked at half time.
Marijan Cabraja - 4
Came on for Stevenson at half time. Failed to stop goals leaking from the left hand side with Forrest and Abada proving too much.
Josh Magennis - 5
Came on at half time to try and change Hibs fortunes. Had a shot from distance saved by Hart. Drifted out the game as the Hoops racked up the goals.
Demetri Mitchell - 3
Given 10 minutes when the game was already done.
Elie Youan - 6
Came on at half time for McKirdy. Gave Hibs a lifeline with a fine strike after 56 minutes to claw one back. Showed his strength and power throughout.
Rocky Bushiri - 5
Brought on at half time to replace Cadden, instantly up against it marking lightning quick Maeda. Provided more strength and power to match runs.
