Hibs 'close' to striking deal to sign ex-Rangers player Kyle McClelland

Hibs 'close' to striking deal to sign former Rangers defender

FORMER Rangers youngster Kyle McClelland is reportedly set to sign for Hibs.

The Easter Road club are said to be close to securing a deal for the freed Gers defender.

The Scottish Sun report that a long-term contract has been offered to the Northern Ireland U21 star.

A number of English clubs were said to be keen on the 20-year-old after he left Ibrox at the end of his contract.

But this report states that Hibs manager Lee Johnson's reputation to develop younger players was a defining factor in the move.

McClelland was highly rated by Gers chiefs, coming through the ranks to play for the B team in the Lowland League last term.
