Hibs appeal James Jeggo red card as SFA set for fresh dismissal review in wake of Graeme Shinnie fallout

Hibs have decided to appeal the decision to send off James Jeggo in Saturday's match against St Johnstone.

The Australian was given his marching orders to the dismay of his boss after going into a challenge with Conor McLennan during the 1-1 draw that sealed a top six Premiership spot. It's a fresh appeal for the Scottish FA to contend with after the saga of Graeme Shinnie's dismissal in Ross County vs Aberdeen resulted in him getting an extra-game added to his three-game suspension.

But after an extensive review of footage from different angles, the club have made their appeal to the football hierarchy after VAR also did not go in their favour on the day. Hibs aren't back in action until after the Scottish Cup fixtures next week and if the ban is upheld, it means that Jeggo will serve a two-match suspension. Johnson told BBC of the red card: "It doesn't surprise me because I've seen too much inconsistency throughout the season.

"When a player wins the ball cleanly and an opponent steams in blind-side for a tackle and unfortunately maybe gets caught, maybe doesn't, for a player to go is absolutely ridiculous, particularly given the magnitude of the game. Much to my dismay and shock it wasn't overturned [by VAR]. The system is broken, it needs fixing and I trust the powers that be to do that."
