Big finale
The race for the top six could go down to the wire for Hibs.
Livingston are in action later today but after victory over Hearts, the pressure swings onto David Martindale's side with a four point gap created ahead of their game with St Johnstone.
The Lions must win to keep their top six hopes alive.. Hibs boast a superior goal difference so while it would not be mathematical, dropped points would all but see Lee Johnson's men into the top half.
The West Lothian outfit are at Dundee United next weekend with Hibs also on the road against the Saints.
End to losing streak
What a way to bring an end to the losing run and earn the bragging rights in the capital.
Lee Johnson's men are still fighting for top six and if they can get in there then all focus turns to securing European football.
The Hibees played well and created the better chances and on the whole deserved the win.
A potential huge game next week awaits. But for now, they will enjoy this one and party into the night.
Star man
Kevin Nisbet has often stepped up to the plate for Hibs.
And he did it once again in the derby.
The Hibees striker has been on top form since returning from his long-term injury.
A move to January was rejected to remain at Easter Road and this strike could prove his most vital one yet.
Whether he is in Leith beyond the summer remains to be seen, but he proved to be the difference maker here.
Ten goals for the Premiership campaign in just 13 appearances.
