Hobart's annual winter festival Dark Mofo might be in hibernation for 2024, but the popular celebration has confirmed the return of its signature winter feast and nude solstice swim.
Joining the drawcard rituals in June will be new events at the Museum of Old and New Art and late night club "night shift".
The collaboration with Mona will include the unveiling of the Namedropping exhibition, curated to showcase "status and the human pursuit ... of looking good in the eyes of others".
A gala opening for the exhibition will be held at Mona on June 14, with ticketing proceeds raising funds towards the Material Institute.
The nude solstice swim will again grace Long Beach on June 21, with an increased capacity after record participants in 2023.
Dark Mofo's winter feast will be held from June 16 to 23 at Princes Wharf 1. A line up of special international guests and chefs is yet to be announced.
The festival previously announced its intention to return fully in 2025, taking this year to re-examine its program to ensure its longevity.
Dark Mofo artistic director Chris Twite reaffirmed the festival's significance as a "beacon of artistic exploration".
"Whilst the festival rests in 2024, the solstice does not, and we are excited to gather once more to present two popular pillars of the Tasmanian midwinter," he said.
Tickets for the gala will go on sale in March.
