The actress and singer, Ruth Madoc, has been rushed to hospital after an accident earlier this week.

Ruth, originally from Swansea, added, alongside her statement: "Hiya everyone, please don’t worry ! I’m well and I’ll soon be back to normal, but unfortunately @princesstheatretorquay won’t get to have The Empress Gladys in the Panto this Christmas."

The Mirror reports that it comes after Ruth's accident in 2019 which ended up in a two-week hospital stay after she broke her femur in four places and her hip. Previously addressing the accident, Ruth said: “I was doing a warm up on stage and just tripped and I went down.

"To cut a long story short, I spent two weeks in hospital in Dublin and then another week at home. The medics are thrilled to bits and have given me their blessing to come back eight months later.” She added that people over the age of 70 had to fight harder to get better: "I want people to understand that unfortunately you’ve got to go through pain barriers to get back on your feet again. You’ve got to have the tenacity to do what the medics tell you to do. It might be painful and you might not see a light at the end of the tunnel but do it!”

Fans of the actress were quick to respond with well wishes. One said: "Oh noooo I'm so sorry to hear this. Hope you're doing okay and have a speedy recovery." Another added: "Hope you have a fast recovery." One commented: "Oh no Ruth so sorry to hear about this. Sending you all the love in the world."

Ruth Madoc is known for her portrayal as Gladys Pugh from the 1980s BBC's comedy program Hi-de-Hi! She also appeared in the second series of Little Britain, as Daffyd Thomas's mother. And she is also known on the pantomime scene, with performances featured in Annie, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.
