Recent reports from the Times of Israel confirm that at least seven Hezbollah operatives were killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday. The IDF responded to the terrorist group's firing of approximately 100 rockets across northern Israel.
According to IDF sources, two of the terrorists killed were associated with Hezbollah's Rocket and Missile Unit. One of the significant operatives, Muhammad Mahmoud Negm, was targeted and killed by the Israeli Air Force in southern Lebanon's Aaita El Zot area. Another terrorist, Saeed Mahmoud Daeb, was struck in Tyre.
Additional strikes across southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of four more operatives, including a Hezbollah cell preparing rocket fire from Tayr Harfa village. Fortunately, no Israeli injuries or deaths were reported following the attacks.
The Upper Galilee region experienced the majority of the rocket fire, with around 40 projectiles launched from Lebanon into Israel. The IDF managed to intercept some of the incoming rockets, although the exact number was not disclosed.
The escalation in violence comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, with Jerusalem bracing for potential conflict with Iran. Efforts to broker a cease-fire between Hamas and Israel by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar aim to prevent a broader war involving Iran and its proxy forces, including Hezbollah.
While negotiations between Hamas and Israel focus on security concerns in Gaza, Israeli defense officials remain cautious about the prospects of lasting peace. Security experts in Israel continue to view Hezbollah as the primary threat to national security.
