Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had launched a barrage of rockets targeting the Galilee region in northern Israel. The rockets were aimed at the Zebulun settlement in the Galilee area, with Hezbollah stating that the attack was in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, as well as in defense of Lebanon and its citizens.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that approximately 15 projectiles were detected crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory. The IDF reported that some of the rockets were intercepted, while others landed in the area.
In addition to the rocket attack, the IDF also intercepted a drone that entered Israeli maritime territory along the coast. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the drone interception.
The exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with Hezbollah citing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon as a motivation for its actions. The situation remains fluid, and both sides are closely monitoring developments.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the rocket attack, vowing to respond forcefully to any threats against Israeli citizens. The Israeli government has urged the international community to condemn Hezbollah's actions and hold the group accountable for its aggression.
As the situation continues to unfold, residents in northern Israel are advised to remain vigilant and follow instructions from local authorities. The IDF has increased its presence in the area and is on high alert for any further escalations.
