The director for the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ International Security Program has indicated that Hezbollah is likely to retaliate following Tuesday’s pager explosions in Lebanon. According to the expert, Israel is concerned about the situation in the north and is working towards securing its northern border.
Despite a relatively subdued response from Hezbollah after the assassination of a senior commander in July, the expert believes that the recent events will compel Hezbollah to take action. The Israel Defense Forces estimate that Hezbollah possesses a significant arsenal of rockets and missiles, including precision munitions.
With Israel focusing on resolving the conflict in Gaza and turning its attention to the north, tensions in the region are escalating. The expert warns that if the situation continues to escalate, Hezbollah has the capability to pose a significant threat to Israel.
