An incident involving a Hezbollah-launched drone entering Israel without triggering an alert has raised concerns within the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, has stated that an investigation will be conducted to understand how the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) managed to breach Israeli defenses.
The drone, launched from Lebanon, targeted a military base near Binyamina, resulting in casualties among IDF personnel. The attack, which occurred close to 7 p.m. local time, highlighted vulnerabilities in Israel's defense systems, prompting the need for improvements.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the drone strike was part of a larger operation involving rocket launches towards Israeli cities like Nahariya and Acre. The militant group also deployed a swarm of drones, some of which were used for the first time, towards areas in Acre and Haifa.
Despite Israel's defense radars, the drones managed to evade detection and reach their intended target at the training camp of the elite Golani Brigade in Binyamina. The resulting explosion caused casualties among IDF personnel, with four soldiers reported dead and over 60 individuals injured.
Hezbollah issued a warning to Israel, indicating that the attack was a prelude to further actions if Israel continued its aggression against Lebanon.
