Hezbollah has confirmed the death of Hashem Safieddine, a potential candidate to succeed leader Hassan Nasrallah. The Israel Defense Forces reported that Safieddine was killed in an Israeli Air Force attack on Hezbollah's underground intelligence headquarters in Beirut's southern suburbs approximately three weeks ago.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Hezbollah acknowledged Safieddine's death in an Israeli airstrike, although the specific date was not disclosed. The group praised Safieddine for his lifelong dedication to serving Hezbollah, the Islamic Resistance, and its community.

Safieddine was a potential successor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Following the assassination of Nasrallah, Hezbollah has not yet appointed a successor. Safieddine's passing marks a significant loss for the organization, as he was considered a potential leader to fill the void left by Nasrallah's death.
