Lebanon's Hezbollah group launched a rocket attack on northern Israel, targeting a kibbutz in retaliation for an Israeli drone strike that wounded several individuals, including children. This marked the first time in nine months that a kibbutz was targeted by Hezbollah.
Additionally, the Palestinian group Hamas fired rockets from Lebanon towards an Israeli army post in Shomera, citing retaliation for alleged 'Zionist massacres' in the Gaza Strip. Hamas has sporadically carried out such attacks from Lebanon in recent months.
Hezbollah's rocket attack on the kibbutz of Dafna followed an Israeli drone strike in the village of Burj al-Muluk, which resulted in injuries to Syrian civilians, including children. The Israeli military reported detecting around 45 projectiles crossing from Lebanon into northern Israel, with some intercepted and others causing fires in the Golan Heights.
Hezbollah's recent actions come after previous rocket attacks on northern Israel in response to Israeli strikes that resulted in casualties. The ongoing exchange of fire and airstrikes has led to displacement of tens of thousands of people in both Lebanon and Israel.
Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, warned of further retaliation against Israeli strikes in Lebanon that harm civilians, stating intentions to target new villages. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in over 450 deaths, primarily Hezbollah members, along with around 90 civilian casualties. On the Israeli side, casualties include 21 soldiers and 13 civilians.
