Canberra United legend Michelle Heyman has become the first player to score 100 career A-League Women goals, netting a double to lead her side to a 3-1 win against Adelaide United.

In Saturday's United Round action at Leichhardt Oval, Heyman scored two goals in two minutes to help Canberra overturn a 1-0 deficit and earn just their second win of the campaign.

The later game saw Newcastle triumph against a 10-player Brisbane outfit with an own goal from Matildas talent Tameka Yallop proving decisive.

But the day belonged to Heyman, who hit triple-figures in classic poacher's fashion in the 50th minute of their win.

She pressed the United defenders and forced a mistake before gathering the ball and coolly slotting it home.

As if reaching the milestone took a weight off her shoulders, Heyman doubled up just a minute later with a towering header that gave Adelaide keeper Annalee Grove no chance.

Canberra midfielder Vesna Milivojević marked the occasion with a stunning goal, blasting one home from outside the box on 64 minutes for a 3-1 lead.

Canberra's goals came just as the game looked to be getting away from them.

Adelaide dominated the first half without reward before clever work from Mariah Lee down the right wing created an easy tap-in for Isabel Hodgson.

Heyman, who made her ALW debut in 2008, played for Sydney, Central Coast, Adelaide and now Canberra on her way to achieving the milestone.

Later, Newcastle took their time to break down Brisbane and got a big helping hand with Roar defender Holly McQueen sent off on the hour mark for bumping Melindaj Barbieri as she looked to be through on goal.

Sarina Bolden broke the deadlock soon after, only for Mia Corbin to calmly equalise seconds later thanks to clever build-up play from Yallop.

But the Matildas midfielder was the villain soon after, deflecting Barbieri's challenging corner into her own net to gift the Jets the points.

The win rockets Newcastle up the table to fourth at least temporarily despite their negative goal difference.
