Hey, you! Crikey is hiring a Readers’ Editor

Ever since we first kicked off, Crikey has had a rolling conversation (okay, sometimes argument) with our readers — now we’re creating a brand-new role dedicated to the pursuit of picking their brains.

We’re looking for someone who’s plugged into the news cycle, can write clean copy, knows a good story idea, has an eye for socials and likes to spark debates. This role has been created to capitalise and build on our relationship with our very knowledgeable and opinionated readers, by providing insights to the editorial team about what sparks their interests and creating opportunities to feature their input in creative ways.

This role is being advertised as a part-time, fixed-term (12-month) contract, ideally 0.8FTE.

Reporting to the editor in chief and working with the editor, deputy editor and marketing team, you’ll talk to Crikey readers through three key areas:

  • Build reader engagement, both on- and off-site work;
  • Retain readers by featuring the voice of the reader in editorial/providing insights to the internal team;
  • Reach new audiences to convert them into Crikey readers.

For all the formal guff and more detail about what you’ll be doing, plus the skills and experience you need — use these links to apply if you’re based in Melbourne or Sydney. Please apply via LinkedIn or directly to hr@privatemedia.com.au, ensuring you upload a cover letter and resume. Applications will remain open until 30 June 2024 depending on interest. We may need to close the role earlier, so don’t delay and apply today.
