Heung-min Son nets brace to continue return to form as Tottenham man stars for South Korea

Heung-min Son underlined his return to form with a brace for South Korea in Friday’s friendly against Colombia.

Both of the Tottenham winger’s goals in Ulsan were impressive efforts with the first coming after only ten minutes as he punished goalkeeper Camilo Vargas for wandering out of his box with a clinical finish from range.

Son made it 2-0 to his country in first-half stoppage time when he unleashed an accurate free-kick that dipped into the bottom corner.

Former Real Madrid and Everton player James Rodriguez got Colombia on the board shorlty after the break before Jorge Carrascal netted a quickfire equaliser.

The score finished 2-2 in Jurgen Klinsmann’s first game as Korea boss, with a friendly against Uruguay next up on Tuesday.

Son had spoken of his happiness to be working under the former Spurs star and he excited his club’s fans by continuing his return to goalscoring form.

Before the internationals, the 30-year-old netted in the Premier League win over Nottingham Forest before setting up another as Tottenham drew at Southampton.

By the time he gets back to north London, Son is likely to have a new manager given the increasingly precarious nature of Antonio Conte’s tenure.

Standard Sport understand there are no guarantees the Italian will return to the club while currently on a break with his family back home, and Ryan Mason has been tipped to take charge until the end of the season.
