Heung-min Son feels responsible for Tottenham sacking Antonio Conte

Tottenham striker Heung-min Son fears his struggling form this season in part led to manager Antonio Conte leaving the club.

Spurs finally confirmed Conte's exit late on Sunday evening, more than a week since the manager's remarkable tirade at his "selfish" players, in which he questioned their motivations.

Son has failed to replicate his form of last season, which saw him win the Golden Boot, scoring just six goals in 26 games, and feels responsible Conte's exit.

"I'm very sorry to [Conte],” said Son in an interview with Korean media.

"He is a world-class manager, we had great journey together, I thank him a lot. I do not know how other players are thinking about him, but I'm sorry to him.

"I should have shown more but I couldn't. I couldn't help the team and I feel responsible as he left the club. He surely has great ability and experience as a coach and I'm sure he'll have great success in his future career.”

He added: “Coming back to Spurs, I wish to finish the rest of the season in a great way with my team-mates, for our club.”
