Hessle industrial inspection specialist Bureau Technical Services has won a contract on a record-breaking European offshore wind farm.
The company will provide quality assurance services on the foundations and towers destined for the emerging He Dreiht project, 110km off the German coast.
The 960MW wind farm, being delivered by German energy company EnBW, is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, and is the country’s first zero subsidy installation. A final investment decision on the £2 billion build was made last month.

The team at Bureau Technical Services will carry out manufacturing surveillance and supervision across Sif and Smulders’ manufacturing sites in the UK, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Germany and Denmark.
Tom Greaves, BTS’ operations director, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded a contract for the foundations and wind turbine generator fabrication scopes after a very competitive tender process. It is a testament to our experience and capability within the offshore wind sector that sees us being awarded our 21st offshore wind farm project.
The award of this He Dreiht contract aligns with our growth strategy for offshore wind, and we look forward to working in partnership with EnBW to deliver a successful project.”
It will use Vestas’ latest generation 15MW turbines. The V236-15MW is one of the world’s most powerful wind turbine designs, with a single turbine unit capable of generating up to 80 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year.
An established industrial operator across oil and gas and wider process industries, BTS has also worked on Humber projects, including RWE’s Humber Gateway and Triton Knoll offshore wind farms.
