Hero Scottish police dog helps find man who vanished on coastal walk

A police dog has been praised after finding a missing 75-year-old man in Fife.

PD Oz was on hand when the man, who suffers with dementia, was reported missing in the West Wemyss area. The dog and his handler searched for hours, eventually finding the missing man.

He had fallen down a coastal path, and was brought back home to be with his family.

Posting to Facebook, Police Scotland Fife said: "An awesome result by PD Oz & S326 last night.

"They found a 75-year-old man, with dementia who was reported missing. The pair searched for hours to find him. Oz got wind of him & found him having fallen down the West Wemyss coastal path.

"He's now with family."

Followers were quick to praise Oz, with one user commenting: "Excellent work PD Oz, and your handler. Great team work."

Another added: "Love a good story. Well done to the handler too."

A third said: "You are worth your weight in gold Oz, and your officer too. Both heroes."
