Hero pensioner John Thompson has stepped out again to add to his already phenomenal fundraising total.
The 79-year-old completed a 15-mile walk for Beatlie School.
Army Veteran John presented a cheque for £2092 to Carol Robbie, manager of Beatlie ahead of the school’s move to a purpose built campus at Craigswood Park in Livingston.
On April 30 this year John was accompanied on the walk by his friend Derek Burns from East Calder for safety reasons, the weather was good and there was plenty to talk about so the time went in quickly the 15 mile walk was just past Linburn war Blind.
John has been raising funds for local and national charities for the last 49 years totalling £52,625 while in the last year alone John raised a total of £25,518.
The ex-army piper formerly of the 1st Bn Royal Highland Fusiliers. John is a tenant of Bield Retirement Housing at Craigengar Park Craigshill LIvingston for the last 10 years.
John said: “I love to do a lot of work for charities in West Lothian, especially for special needs schools, pensioners and veteran charities.
“I get great pleasure from doing it and like to see a lot of smiles on their faces when I present them with their cheques.”
