KTLA reporter John Fenoglio captured national attention Tuesday night for his courage while covering the Eaton wildfires in Altadena, California. As flames spread, reducing homes to ash, Fenoglio stepped in to help.

While reporting live, Fenoglio noticed flames creeping onto a home's back porch. "The back of this house is catching," he exclaimed.

Grabbing a garden hose, he sprang into action. Fenoglio, who has experience as an emergency medic, sprayed down flames to protect the home while an inferno loomed behind him.

"It's not our job, but you try to help when you can," he later said.

Fenoglio's actions were applauded online, with viewers praising his actions. One Reddit user noted, "Having lived in SoCal for quite some time, I've seen reporters help in similar ways. They're truly human beings bros."

Another added, "Small acts like this can save lives and homes."

KTLA reported it's unclear if the home was saved.

This isn't the first time reporters have gone above and beyond during the ongoing wildfire crisis. A KNBC journalist safeguarded paintings from a burning home while the homeowner escaped on his bike.

The Eaton Fire erupted Tuesday night and has already scorched over 10,000 acres. The cause remains under investigation.

The Los Angeles wildfires have claimed five lives, though the true death toll remains unknown. Thousands of structures have been destroyed and tens of thousands have been forced to flee their homes.
