Every season, French high-fashion house Hermès launches a new collection of square scarves in silk twill – one of the brand’s most iconic items – which can add an elegant touch to your look.
Hermès’ silk scarf: how the timeless beauty is made
This season, its new carré (French for “square”) collection includes designs by Filipe Jardim from Brazil and Paris-based Italian artist Gianpaolo Pagni.
The Sea, Surf and Fun silk square, which measures 90 centimetres (35 inches) by 90cm, features Jardim’s swift free-form drawing lines and motifs of surfboards and palm trees.

The fun and energetic design is inspired by the beaches of the Basque Country in northern Spain.
Pagni pays tribute to, and reinterprets, the motif of the first Hermès silk scarf created in 1937 in his new design, the Jeu des Omnibus Remix silk scarf, also measuring 90cm by 90cm.
Available in nine colours, the new creation is a reinvention of the spiral composition of the 1937 design Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches.

Famous for its softness, the silk square created by Hermès is regarded as a work of art.
It is made of silk twill sourced from a Brazilian mill, which has been weaving silk for the luxury brand for 50 years.
Another new scarf design, the Pois Optique giant scarf, measuring 140cm by 140cm, which features a large striped dot, can be worn as head wrap, too.
